Why am I listing values here, this is just a website for a podcast ?
I believe we all have a part to play in creating a kind, progressive, inclusive, egalitarian society where racism, sexism and any other exclusions are eradicated so this is why its important that GOOW has values and that you know them.
I have used this platform to cover topics with my guests to include the Black Lives Matter movement and racism in this country and also sexism and sadly violence against women and I hope to continue to do so. In some small way this podcast is a platform and its important you know what is important to me and that this community that has grown around the podcast.

When people outside of work asked what I did and I said I worked in call centres no one ever replied 'that must be a great place to work' - the assumption was that call & contact centres were not great places to work and despite positive strides I think that is still predominantly the case.
One thing I always pointed out was something that I have always been proud of and that is that call & contact centres (in my experience) have always been progressive and sometimes further ahead than the communities they are based in.
I've worked in a world where most of my bossess and peers in my career have been women, I started in call centres in London where the majority of my colleagues and customers were people of colour and I have worked in Istanbul for 2.5 years and from what I saw no one cared about gender, colour of skin or sexuality.
I am not naive though, problems exist in our indsutry and as a straight white middle aged man I am the definition of privilege and it is through that lens that I view our industry - however I want to hear from people in these groups and give them the platform to inform and discuss, I want to be an active ally to groups who need our support in gaining equality so to that end I want to share the GOOW values.
1. Racism has no place here.
2. Sexism has no place here.
3. Whatever your sexuality this a safe place for you.

I will use this platform to do good.
Thanks
Martin
